State of Victoria

The Challenge
The strategy of the State of Victoria is to transform a traditional “command and control” culture to one that empowers leaders and individual contributors. The ultimate goal is to downsize its organizations by outsourcing non-core functions.

The Solution
With this in mind, the Department of Small Business and Regulatory Compliance asked Interpersonal Development to create and deliver a leadership program that focused on leadership and supplier-management skills.

Components of the program included Application Projects that required managers to demonstrate innovative methods, cross-functional teamwork, and leadership skills. Other components included multi-rater feedback for each manager and a three-day leadership course.

On of the measurable results of the program was that a number of the program “graduates” have been assigned to projects involving significant change efforts within the government.
