GlaxoSmithKline

The Challenge
Aligning behaviors and operating principles was particularly important in light of recent mergers by this global company. Helping leaders effectively address merger-related issues with their teams was a key theme that the program needed to encompass in addition to on-going and accelerating business change in a complex, global organization. Managers who had grown up in a command-and-control environment were being asked to migrate towards a fully empowered, cross functional and cross cultural organizational structure. GSK wanted a partner/vendor who could provide global design in conjunction with the project team, including facilitator and participant guides, regional or global delivery support, input on content, structure, pre-work, follow-up work /process, instruments, duration and measurement of the program. GSK’s operating model is one of a single, consistent, global program design, supported by a limited number of organizations delivering programs in separate but sizable geographies (i. e. US, UK, Europe, Latin America, etc.).

The Solution
Interpersonal Development designed, developed, and delivered a Global Leadership Program called “Matrix Management” for GSK’s middle manager level audience.
